Tavo’s Approach
Disease Overview

Tavo is developing TAV-001, a potential disease-modifying topical therapy that takes a fundamentally different approach to glaucoma. Rather than treating pressure alone, TAV-001 is designed as an Autonomic Nervous System Modulator for Glaucoma (AMG) — a new class of therapy that works with the eye’s own regulatory systems to address the disease comprehensively at its source.
TAV-001 acts on the autonomic nervous system through three interconnected mechanisms:
Intraocular Pressure Reduction — TAV-001 modulates autonomic signaling to reduce the pressure caused by excess fluid production that ultimately damages the optic nerve.
Improved Ocular Perfusion — TAV-001 is a known vasodilator, which may increase blood flow and reduce ischemia at the optic nerve.
Neuroprotection — We believe TAV-001 dampens glutamate release and excitotoxicity that drive irreversible vision loss, attenuating the inflammatory cascade that damages retinal ganglion cells.
TAV-001 has completed a successful Phase 1b clinical trial in glaucoma patients and is currently being studied in a Phase 2 clinical trial.
